NEW YORK PART 1 // NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY
I am officially back to reality after and amazing trip to New York!
This is part 1 of my trip! And of course, I had some amazing photos taken to share this oh so memorable moment.
As many of you already know, I was given this amazing opportunity to venture to New York with my boss Kristin of Rain Boutique in Fort Collins. Each season, we go out and buy for the coming seasons ahead and this time around, she gave me the mission to buy with her.
This in itself was a big moment for me. I have never bought for a store before, so it was a tad intimidating when we arrived at the showrooms of the designers I had only dreamed of visiting. I have learned about buying in school, as I am in design and merchandising, but a school can only teach so much. You have to really experience the buying process to completely understand all that goes into it. School curriculum is great, but real world experience is something that can’t be beaten.
When we arrived in New York, we hit the ground running! Prior to arriving, I had found a photographer named Dane Isaac via Instagram and scheduled him to meet me at the New York Public Library to take outfit shots for you lovely readers. Dane was the sweetest person ever. He knew exactly where to go and get the best shots. As it turns out, he knows quite a few photographers in Fort Collins! Dane has been featured numerous times in blogs including that of online retailer Mr. Porter. Not to mention, he has even signed with Sony.
For this outfit, my goal was to look like a New Yorker with a great sense of fashion. I wore this gray cashmere sweater tucked into black jeans and paired with a western belt. Tucking sweaters/shirts into jeans is a great thing to do it gives a mod vibe to the outfit and personally, I think it tapers the body nicely.
To complement these pieces, I threw on my new boots that I got for an insane $29.99! Online they still show up as $99.99 but in-store they are less. You might remember seeing these boots in my last outfit post. To top off this look, I put on this black and white buffalo check poncho (similar here) to give the outfit a bit of flair.
I hope you all enjoyed this post as much as I did making it!
