Todd Reed Jewelry

New Year, New Jewelry!

Hello all,

We are finally there! The new year is upon us.

To start of the year right, why not treat your self to some amazing jewelry by Todd Reed.

I was recently invited to the Todd Reed showroom in Boulder, CO. At first I did not know what to expect when walking in, but I was greeted by a lovely sales associate who said “oh you must be Jack, let me get Liz for you”. So there I was standing, feeling a bit out of place amongst the posh glass cases filled with gorgeous diamonds. Liz Kantner soon came into the room with layered trays of jewelry. She was warm and extremely welcoming, shaking my hand and making me feel a bit more at ease when she said “have fun! try on what you want. Take pictures!”. It turns out that Liz and I have a mutual friend, Coutrney Parker of CP PR, in common. After our little chat, we soon got down to the business of diamonds, and what makes Todd Reed Jewelry extremely special.

Todd Reed has been designing fine jewelry for over 20 years. Reed has always been the creative type, being that his mother, a commercial illustrator, made sure he was exposed to multiple mediums of creativity. At the age of 10, his world changed, when on vacation in Bisbee Arizona, Reed experience a silversmith turning sheet metal into jewelry. This would forever change the way he thought of design. Reed would then go on to become friends with a diamond collector, who exposed him to the raw side of precious stones. Raw diamonds would soon become his specialty and can be seen in a mass majority of his work.

Reed eventually set up shop in Boulder, in 1996. Starting out, it was a place for jewelry collectors to envision one-of-a-kind pieces. Soon, Reed expanded business and now has 23 master jewelers who work close collaboration with him. Along with his expansion, Reed has now opened a flagship store in Venice, CA.

Unfortunately, I did not have the pleasure of meeting Todd, but I am sure our paths will cross shortly. I mean he accepted my Facebook friend request, so…

Liz encouraged me to pick out the pieces that I enjoyed most. All of which had their own unique qualities to them. My favorite piece, however, Happened to be a chain link bracelet with one link consisting of black diamonds. Needless to say, I was amazed the simplistic beauty of the piece.

My second favorite piece was what could be considered an engagement ring, but could also be just a fun ring to have! At first I didn’t think that this stone was a diamond, but in fact it is. Liz was telling me that when the stone is extracted from the ground, the natural color is typically removed, however, Todd Reed strives to keep the natural color, thus coinciding with his raw esthetic.

The Todd Reed showroom is a must see, as they have glass walls that look directly at the master jewelers intently working. Liz was so sweet and took me behind the scenes of how a piece is made.

I just love creativity, and Todd Reed is not short of it! I was in awe of the process. It was nice to see a craft that is still continued though multiple artisans.

I hope you all look into Todd Reed, and hopefully go and take a visit. It does not disappoint!
